P5(d)Role of Relevant Regulatory Bodies

Regulatory bodies are external forces that monitor the activities of certain groups or companies and ensure they are operating at a certain standard.

According to the British Board of Film Classification, a movie rated PG (Parental Guidance) means the film should not unsettle a child around eight. Transformers is rated PG-13, which follows the same rules as PG rated movies but specifies that the film might unsettle a child below 13.

The Office of Communications (Welsh: Y Swyddfa Gyfathrebiadau), commonly known as Ofcom, is the government-approved regulatory and competition authority for the broadcasting, telecommunications and postal industries of the United Kingdom.

The British Board of Film Classification (BBFC), is a non government organisation, funded by the film industry and responsible for the national classification and censorship of films within the United Kingdom. It has a statutory requirement to classify videos, DVDs and, to a lesser extent, some video games under the video recordings Act 2010.
